Connecting breath with movement, Gentle Yoga offers a slower paced class focused on lengthening and stretching. Gentle Yoga is both low-intensity and restorative. Many poses are stationary and held for a short to medium length of time. Gentle Yoga is perfect for correcting imbalances, softly and slowly stretching and lengthening muscles, and appropriate for those seeking a nurturing practice with carefully designed movements to improve range of motion.
In a Gentle Yoga class, you would expect to begin your practice with mindful intention setting. The entire class will be performed on a yoga mat with some poses on the floor and some from a standing position. Carefully measured pressure with stretching movements can be enhanced or modified using props such as Yoga blocks or Yoga straps. The slower pace of a Gentle practice is perfect for those who might be deconditioned or rehabilitating from an injury. Finding inner peace and reducing stress and anxiety are also wonderful reasons to participate in this practice.
